| SKIING IN SPAIN AT JAVALAMBRE NEAR VALENCIA Javalambre is a tiny ski resort set in the Sierra de Gúdar mountains near the major town of Teruel. Javalambre is only an hour's drive inland from Spain's third biggest city, Valencia. One advantage of Javalambre's size is the absence (weekends excepted) of lift queues. Here is the latest Javalambre weather and temperatures: If you live on the northern Costa Blanca coast or on the southern Costa Azahar coast, then you can easily reach Javalambre for a days skiing and be back home later that day. It seems incredible but you really can ski in the morning and be on the beach in the afternoon! Javalambre is an open ski resort with few trees, the skiing is basically on one hill so you won't feel like there is much variety in the runs. It does however suit beginners with most ski slopes being very easy (and wide), although there is a good red run on the other side of the hill. The ski resort of Javalambre is situated at a height of 1,775 metres (with a maximum elevation of 2000 metres). Although high up it doesn't snow much, however skiing is now guaranteed due to over 95 artificial snow cannons. Most days at Javalambre you will be skiing with clear blue skies. Temperatures can also be usually high for a ski resort. Javalambre is a very small ski resort with just 6.9 kilometres of runs comprising of 9 runs, 3 green and 5 blue runs for beginners and 1 red for intermediates. Facilities at Javalambre include a restaurant and cafeteria. Ski lessons are available as is ski hire. There are 10 ski lifts including two 4-seater chairlifts, four button lifts and 1 magic carpet for beginners. There is no accommodation at the ski resort of Javalambre itself. The nearest major town is Teruel. Experienced skiers will find the skiing at Javalambre limited. We recommend a daytrip or a weekend at most. Note also that there is another ski resort, Valdelinares, nearby, this is also very small with just 7.5 kilometres of pistes but is much prettier and better for advanced skiers. We also recommend the official site of Javalambre ski resort |
