WHERE ARE THE BEST COSTA BLANCA GOLF COURSES?

Spain is well known for its warm weather and its golf courses. Spain has many famous golfers such as Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia and Jose Maria Olazabal who have contributed their designs of many famous golf courses through out the country putting Spain firmly on the golfing world map!

The Costa Blanca is no exception. It is a golfer’s paradise. This page is dedicated to listing the top twenty golf courses on the Costa Blanca. It is important to remember that some golf courses require a strict dress code and others have to be booked way in advance to avoid disappointment.

LA MANGA GOLF CLUB

The most famous of all is the golf courses in Spain is the La Manga Club near Cartagena Murcia which has hosted many championships including the Spanish Open, Spanish PGA Championships, Spanish Junior Championships, Ladies' Spanish Open and Senior Spanish Open for men, not to mention countless televised corporate and celebrity golf events. This is just south of the Costa Blanca on the Costa Calida.

On the Southern Costa Calida you can also choose to play at the Mosa Trajectum near San Javier Murcia, Altorreal in Molina de Segura, Hacienda de Alamo in Fuente Alamo, E Roda Golf, La Serena Golf, Mar Menor Golf, El Valle Golf and La Haciendsa Riquelme all located in the San Javier Murcia area.

It seems that almost every twenty minutes of driving time along the Costa Blanca you will find another golf course to play on, so one is really spoilt for choice.

NORTHERN COSTA BLANCA GOLF COURSES AND GOLF CLUBS

North of Alicante on the northern Costa Blanca you can play at the Alicante Golf Club in Playa San Juan, Villaitana near Benidorm, Don Cayo Golf Club in Altea, the Ifach Golf Club in Benissa, La Sella Golf Club near Jesus Pobre, Javea Golf Club in Javea, Oliva Nova Golf in Oliva.

Just north of the Costa Blanca on the Costa Azahar driving towards Valencia you can play at Foressos Golf, Picassent, El Saler Golf Club in El Saler, El Bosque Golf and Country Club in Chiva, The Escorpion Golf Club in Betera and furtherest in the north near Casellon is the Mediterraneo Golf Club in Borriol.

Designed in 1995 by Severiano Ballesteros, the Oliva Nova golf resort south of Oliva is one of the best courses at the Costa Blanca. Open all year, the 18 hole golf course charges approx. EUR 75 for the green fee. The entire area is more like a golf resort with hotels and permanent golf property to buy and rent.

Spanish world class golfer Jose Maria Olazabal designed La Sella close to La Jara, Jesus Pobre and Denia. Designed in 1990 it offers a demanding 18 hole golf course and a driving range with over 20 bays. Directions - Leave at exit 62 of the autopista AP-7 and head in direction towards Denia and take a right to La Xara and Jesus Poble. Expensive but well worth the gree fee.

Just outside of Javea and Benitachell. A relatively small 9 hole golf course. The two additional putting greens and the twenty bay driving range offer enough room to practice your golf swing.

In Benissa and close to Moraira is the golf club Ifach. As a 9 hole golf course, it offers a spectacular view over the coastline to the Penon de lfach in Calpe (the Calpe Rock). With one putting green, it is one of the smaller courses around. Directions - You find the golf club at the roundabout from Moraira to Calpe after about three km at the Urbanization of San Jaime.

The nearest golf course to Altea is this 9 hole course with a five bay driving range. You find it in the part of Altea LaVieja (“Altea the old”), just after leaving exit 64 of the autopista AP7. Simply follow directions to Altea la Vieja and you can't miss it.

Designed by Nicklaus Design, the Real de Faula Benidorm golf course is one of the best known around the Costa Blanca. Near to Benidorm with great sweeping views over the high-rise town of Benidorm. Real de Faula has two very different 18 hole courses. The 300 meters driving range can host up to 60 players. Various practice areas like putting green, approach green, bunker.

SOUTHERN COSTA BLANCA GOLF COURSES AND GOLF CLUBS

The best area for golf on the Costa Blanca is the southern Costa Blanca south of Alicante where the most golf clubs are located.

On the Southern Costa Blanca you can tee off in Campoamor, Real Club de Golf near Orihuela, and Las Ramblas Golf Club also near Orihuela, La Finca Golf Club is in Algorfa, Villamartin Golf Club is near Orihuela, La Marquesa Golf Club is located in Rojales, while the Vistabella Golf Club is in Jacarilla. El Plantio Golf Club is in Elche and the Bonalba Golf Club in Muxtamel. The Alenda Golf Club is located in Monforte del Cid.

The Alenda golf club lies a bit outside of Alicante. Drive the A-31 motorway from Alicante to Madrid and take the Elche / Aspe exit at about fifteen kilometers. The course is located about 15 km west of Alicante. Open all year, it offers a 18 hole very demanding course, two putting greens and a 20 bay driving range.

A bit north of Alicante, on the road between Busot and Bonalba, lies the area of Bonalba Golf with its 18 hole golf course. The golf course itself is 6367 meters long and allows a breathtaking view over the Mediterranean Sea.
