TORREVIEJA TRANSFERS - GETTING TO TORREVIEJA FROM ALICANTE AIRPORT

Torrevieja is located on the Southern Costa Blanca in Spain and although the nearest airport to the resort is Murcia Airport, Alicante Airport is the main hub servicing the Costa Blanca with the greater amount of carriers, services and flights on offer.

The town of Torrevieja is 69 kilometers south of Alicante airport with a transfer journey of 52 minutes.

Once a small fishing village Torrevieja is now a popular beach resort and has mushroomed in size with the building boom from 2000-2007. Many people own townhouses, apartments and villas here as second homes to escape to for a bit of sunshine.

Torrevieja has some huge urbanisations to the south which are Dona Ines, Los Balcones, Residencia Los Altos, Villa Rosa la Cinuelica.

Heading north towards Guardamar there is Los Montesinos, La Mata, Pinomar and there are large urbanisations of Portic Mediterrani, El Moncaio and Portic Platja.

Although the easier option is to fly into Alicante the nearest Torrevieja airport is actually Murcia airport which has a much more limited amount of airlines flying there but it is only 36 km to the south and the transfer time is 30 minutes.

The third option which is a last resort because it is so far away, is Valencia airport which is 253 km to the north of Torrevieja and with a lengthy transfer time of 153 minutes.

Alicante Taxi to Torrevieja

The taxi rank at Alicante airport (see picture above) is immediately to the right as you exit the arrivals terminal. You will see the sign from Radio Taxis Elche with the official prices listed.

The journey time is forty five minutes and costs roughly €55-€70. This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to Torrevieja and also the most expensive. You can try and fix the fare with the driver prior to departure from Alicante airport. Taxis are waiting outside the arrivals hall as you exit the terminal building.

To confirm with your driver exact price you will pay a sometimes different taxi companies add-on extras for sociable hours, public holidays and large amounts of luggage. Apart from that there is the issue of an unscrupulous driver adding on a few euros in the expectation that you will just accept the fare.

Jumping into a taxi which will take you directly to your chosen accommodation option in Torrevieja is of course the easiest option and naturally the most expensive.

Most taxis from Alicante to Torrevieja have a limit of four people so if there are any more in your group it may be more cost-effective to hire a private minibus or shuttle - see the section below.

Private Transfer from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja

Shuttle companies such as Shuttle Direct, Blue Skies and Resort Hoppa offer a service which one can pre book to suit the size of the party. This kind of transfer is much like a taxi service with the exception that the transfer is pre booked with the option of using the shuttle service as well on the day of departure.

Journey times are also forty five minutes and prices start at €16 per person return with companies such as Shuttle Direct based on a party of 4. It pays to shop around and compare prices with the various shuttle service companies.

A private shuttle bus transfer from Alicante airport to Torrevieja will cost £27 per person one way.

A private shuttle bus transfer from Murcia airport to Torrevieja will cost £24 per person one way.

A private shuttle bus transfer from Valencia airport to Torrevieja will cost £160 per person one way.

Arranging in advance and booking a private shuttle bus from Alicante airport to Torrevieja will save you money compared to taking a taxi. You can either take a private shuttle which will take you direct to your destination in Torrevieja. The size of shuttle vehicle varies from small mini-buses to coach transfers to Torrevieja.

Torrevieja Car Hire at Alicante Airport

One of the more popular ways to get from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja. All the major car companies are represented at Alicante Airport and one can compare companies to get the cheapest quote. Car hire companies include Atesa, Auriga, Avis, Centauro, Europcar, Europa, Gold Car, Hertz, Record, Sixt and Sol Mar.

Costs of hiring a car are dependent on the time of year, model and duration of the rental period. The journey time of course would also be approximately forty-five minutes. One can choose to pre book car hire which is a smart thing to do especially during the busy tourist season or organise the car hire on arrival at Alicante Airport.

Hiring a car from Alicante airport to get you to Torrevieja is a great idea if you also want to explore the fantastic Costa Blanca area of Spain. Car hire from Alicante airport is very cheap so it could be a good option even if you don't intend to use the car much.

Torrevieja is very much a compact beach resort with usually plenty of Torrevieja bars, restaurants and beaches within walking distance, so unless you want to go on a number of excursions you probably don't need to consider taking out Torrevieja car hire. Public Bus from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja

Fortunately there is a bus service running from Torrevieja to Alicante Airport. Quickair Torrevieja operates seven days a week and three hundred and sixty five days a year offering six services daily each way.

The Quickair Torrevieja service starts at the Torrevieja Bus Station which is on the Calle del Mar 50 and the departure times from Torrevieja to Alicante times are 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00 and 19:00.

From Alicante Airport to Torrevieja the departure times are 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00 18:00 and 20:00. The journey time is roughly fifty minutes at a price of €6.79 for a single and a return is priced at €13.50, while children under the age of four travels free.

Train from Alicante Airport to Torrevieja

There is currently no train station at Alicante Airport or trains running south of Alicante which you could switch to from the Alicante City Centre.

Torrevieja Transfers Summary

Torrevieja is a large resort and fairly spread out with much to do and see, so car hire is always worth it to be able to make the most of the holiday. Many rental properties are located on urbanisations quite a distance from the beaches, shops and restaurants making car hire to Torrevieja a necessity.
