CALA MILLOR TOURIST INFORMATION

In this tourist guide to the tourist resort of Cala Millor on the Spanish Balearic island of Majorca (Mallorca) we help visitors who are planning a trip with useful and practical advice on many tourism related subjects such as car hire, accommodation, hotels, hostels, map, sightseeing, jobs in Majorca, weather, where to go, where to stay, travel information and what to see and do in Cala Millor.

To make the best of your visit and holiday we cover everything you need to know about Cala Millor. We also have photos, picture galleries, views, videos and webcams of Cala Millor.

Cala Millor is the largest resort on the east coast of Mallorca. The town's biggest attraction is its long sandy beach, regarded as one of the best on the island. Cala Millor also has enough bars, restaurants, discos and shops to keep most holidaymakers happy.

The coastline on the eastern side of Mallorca is fairly rugged with lots of small coves, so it is unusual to find such a lovely stretch of fine white sand on this part of the island. Cala Millor's beach, which is around 1.5km long, is situated within a sheltered bay between two rocky headlands. Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire, and there is an excellent choice of water sports, including windsurfing, paragliding and water-skiing.

CALA MILLOR BEACHES

Alongside the beach is a promenade that leads northwards to neighbouring Cala Bona. A traditional fishing village, Cala Bona is notable for its excellent seafood restaurants and open-air cafes. There are also three artificial beaches which provide safe bathing for younger children. The promenade between Cala Millor and Cala Bona is flat making it ideal for cyclists.

There are regular glass-bottom boat trips from the jetty at the northern end of the beach. The boats travel between Cala Rajada and Porto Cristo, stopping at Cala Bona, Sa Coma and S'illot. Usually the captain will stop on the way to allow passengers to enjoy a refreshing swim.

In the centre of Cala Millor are the attractive gardens of the Parc de la Mar. The Fantasy Park play area for children, complete with inflatables and various rides is located next to the gardens. Cala Millor also has a go-karting track on the Avenida Bahia de Llevant to the west of the Parc de la Mar. There are several popular tourist attractions within easy reach of the resort, most notably the Mallorca Aquarium and famous Drac Caves in Porto Cristo. The latter is a series of huge caverns with millions of sharp, coloured stalactites. The caves also contain one of the largest underground lakes in the world.

Cala Millor hosts various events throughout the year, including the International Regatta in October. Hot Air balloons from across Europe and the United States participate in this colourful spectacle. The last week of September sees the annual Tourism Week featuring various parades, concerts and competitions. One of the more traditional events in Cala Millor is the fiesta de Sant Antoni Abad on January 17th, which celebrates the patron saint of animals.

GETTING TO CALA MILLOR

Cala Millor is situated around 38 miles (60km) from the island's capital, Palma de Mallorca, and 12 miles (20km) from the town of Manacor. There are regular buses from Cala Millor to Palma, Manacor and along the coast to Cala Bona, Sa Coma and Porto Cristo. During the week there also are special market day services to Arta (Tuesdays), Sineu (Wednesdays), Inca (Thursdays) and Son Severa (Fridays).

Cala Millor has two tourist offices; one at the northern end of the promenade, the other next to the Parc de la Mar. Both provide the latest information about activities and events in the resort.
