Fuengirola is very much a massive, sprawling high rise tourist resort located on the popular Costa del Sol coast of Spain. In size Fuengirola can be compared in size and popularity to Torremolinos and Benalmadena both also on the Costa del Sol and Benidorm on the Costa Blanca coast of Spain. Originally a small town Fuengirola has become such a large and popular tourist destination because it has one of the longest stretches of beaches on the Costa del Sol. It does however mean that Fuengirola is now very built up, very noisy in summer and very crowded. So if you are a tourist who likes your small and quaint Spanish beach resorts then you are better off looking at other select holiday resorts on the Costa del Sol such as perhaps Nerja and Sotogrande. The other factor of course in Fuengirola becoming such a popular tourist resort is the weather and climate in Fuengirola.
