BENIDORM TERRA MITICA THEME PARK

Theme parks have become all the rage to have a family day out and Benidorm is blessed with four of them.

Benidorm is blessed with long hot summers with little rain and maximum enjoyment can be had at the famous Terra Mitica theme park.

Terra Mitica is located on the hillside in Benidorm easily accessed from the AP7 or the N332.

Benidorm itself is located on the Northern Costa Blanca in Spain. To take a vacation in Benidorm flights would have to be booked either to Valencia, Murcia or Alicante all within a ninety minute drive from Terra Mitica.

While in Spain you have to hire a car to enjoy all that the Costa Blanca has to offer as everything is spread out and local bus services are limited, or alternatively you can drive your own car to Spain from the U.K. to avoid paying for Benidorm car hire.

ATTRACTIONS AND RIDES AT TERRA MITICA

Terra Mitica is an ancient world theme park based on five civilizations featuring shows and rides.

The first civilization is Rome with its gladiators, Iberia, Ancient Greece, Egypt and The Islands.

The Terra Mitica park is not open all year round but opens its gates on April the 16th 2011 and closes it's gates on December the 11th 2011.

The scariest rides at Terra Mitica are are Magnus Colossus and SynKope.

Families really enjoy the Rapids of Argos where you float down the rapids and most people in the raft get soaking wet!

There are 15 childrens rides which are exact replicas of the scarier adult rides so they don't feel like they are missing out on the fun.

There are so many rides at the park that it is hard to do them all in one day. If you can, take your time and at the end when you leave they give you another days admission for just €8.

When you enter the park you will immediately enter the world of ancient Egypt with its pyramids and the river Nile.

You can take a cruise from Alexandria towards Iberia with a view of all the fantastic rides or you can go straight to the first ride of the Nile Waterfalls. This ride takes place inside a log flume with a twenty meter forward drop not for the faint hearted!

When leaving your boat from the Egyptian docks at El Moll there are a great variety of rides in Iberia including Crazy Cars where the cars have been replaced by bulls, cows and sheep.

Taking the train on El Trano Bravo is a must in Iberia a fabulous experience.

The Mediterranean Islands are represented by a great area of water rides including the Rapids of Argos, be prepared to get very wet as you battle currents and rescue Ulysses.

Greece’s most scariest ride is Synkope classed to be Terra Miticas newest terrifying ride consisting of a giant red wheel which can hold seventy screaming passengers.

The temple of Kinetos is another attraction. Children can explore the Ancient Greek world on horseback. The main attraction of Ancient Rome has to be the flight of the Phoenix which takes you seventy meters into the air and will drop you at a rate of 120 kilometers per hour.

The main rollercoaster of Ancient Rome is Magnus Colossus, the children’s version is Tentaculus telling the story of the Fire and the Phoenix. There are live shows in the amphitheatre portraying life in everyday Rome.

Even if you are not into rollercoasters and rides there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to keep you busy as well as some really good shows such as Tarantela, a circus performance filled with dance and humour.

Every year Terra Mitica premiers a new attraction such as the Warrior of the Dawn. I wonder what it will be this year. For those that love speed the Mitikarts are a must. The Pyramid of Terror is Terra Mitica’s answer of the Haunted House, where mummies and pharaohs will scare you half to death.

TERRA MITICA TICKET PRICES FOR 2011

So how much do 2011 tickets for Terra Mitica cost? Ticket prices set for 2011 are for a one day pass €35.50 for adults, €27.50 for children and €27.50 for senior citizens (age 60+).

7 day tickets €52.50 for adults, €36.25 for children (children under the age of 5 are free) and €36.25 for senior citizens.

2 day tickets plus 1 free day €48.50, €35.50 for children and €35.50 for seniors

14 day passes are €57.50 across the board.

If you are looking for cheap tickets for Terra Mitica try going to the local McDonalds or the La Marina shopping complex where you will often find people handing out discount vouchers.

A cheaper way to enjoy Terra Mitica would be to purchase a season ticket which works out great value.

2011 season tickets for Terra Mitica are €63 for adults and €34.20 for children, for seniors €63 and for the first time Terra Mitica is offering a family pass, but first degree blood lines have to be proven. To utilize this ticket it is priced at €56,70 per adult and over the age of 60.

To renew season tickets costs €46.80 for adults and €34.20 for children.

If you own a season ticket you can bring two friends who can enjoy all the park has to offer for €10 each.

Children ticket prices are not reduced in the family pass. You can also save money by renewing your season pass the following year. There are many great deals available as well as visiting the sister park next door Terra Natura on the same day for a vast discount and are only available at the park on that day.

Terra Mitica is an ancient world theme park with rides, roller coasters and live entertainment. There are many kind of ticket options that you can purchase.

There is a new deal where you can pay €56 for a pass which will include an over night stay at a nearby hotel. Another interesting option is to purchase a season ticket or pase temporada which entitles you to visit the park every day between the months of May and December.

Once inside the park there is something for everyone. As most people come to enjoy the roller coasters and the altitude rides where you can enjoy getting wet, there are also mini versions for the smaller younger visitors, indeed the little guests are measured before each ride. There is a special area designated for young visitors.

EATING AT TERRA MITICA

Can I bring my own food into Terra Mitica?

There are many cafes and restaurants scattered throughout the park, bringing your own food into the park to consume during the day is strictly forbidden. To be honest prices are not too bad but they are certainly not on the cheap side for example €2.50 for a small drink, although the waffles with cream or chocolate for €2.50 look delicious.

Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen, and have a fabulous visit enjoying all the rides, attractions, shows and food at Terra Mitica in Benidorm!
