SHOPPING IN BENIDORMNo holiday would be complete without a touch of shopping. Benidorm indeed is a shopper’s paradise. When you have sunned yourself on Benidorm’s sunny beaches of Playa Poniente and Playa Levante, gone to all Benidorm's night clubs and discos, visited Benidorm’s four theme parks of Terra Mitica, Terra Natura, Aqualandia and Mundomar as well as enjoyed dinner and a show at the Benidorm Palace, wined and dined on the promenades then now it is time to do some shopping. LA MARINA BENIDORMBenidorm has a commercial area in Finestrat with a shopping mall called La Marina. You can’t miss it. It is just off the N332 and can be seen from the motorway. There is a massive Carrefour, Lidl and McDonalds across the road with ample free parking. The mall itself has all the typical retailers such as Mango, Zara, Casa, Ale Hop, Douglas, Druni, C&A, and H&M. There is also a good food court and cinema. SHOPS IN BENIDORM OLD TOWNSome of the most popular shops in Benidorm can be found in the Avenida Martinez Alejos in the pedestrianised Old Town district. More shops can e found along the Passaig de la Carretera where there are many shop selling leather around the Plaza Mayor. Benidorm’s Levante and Rincon de Loix districts are home to Benidorm’s top fashion boutiques with supermarkets, gifts and souvenir shops. BENIDORM MARKETSBenidorm also has the markets that are typical to the Costa Blanca being on Wednesdays and Sundays. Near the Hotel Pueblo is right in the centre of the town, neighbouring Altea’s markets attracts shoppers from further afield and is held on Tuesdays. The markets usually offer local produce, of fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes, art, carpets, handicrafts, antiques and much much more, definitely a worth-while shopping experience. El Cisne is the well known flea market held every Sunday and once every month on a Saturday as well. Featuring bric a brac and collector’s items, true bargains can be made. If jewellery is what you after there are a large variety of jewellery stores in Benidorm selling 14kt gold at reasonable prices many set in precious stones giving it that Spanish style making it some memorable pieces to take home. Typically of the Mediterranean countries Spain also has its fair share of leather shops selling bags, shoes, belts, jackets and purses. Leather in Spanish is piel so keep a lookout for the trademark. The most popular leather stores scattered around the streets of Benidorm can be found around the Passeig de la Carretera, the Avenida del Mediterraneo and the main promenade near the Rincon de Loix. Of course there many Chinese bazaar and other little Spanish shops selling some fairly good quality eye catching clothes for very little money. Also if you have children make sure to make a flamenco dress and matching shoes a treat to take home not to mention the typical tourist shops selling post cards, sun screen, swimming costumes, sombreros, etc. BENIDORM SHOPS - OPENING HOURSShopping hours in Benidorm are from ten in the morning until two in the afternoon. Shops close during the hot summer hours siesta time and open again between four and five in the afternoon until eight in the evening. The big supermarkets such as the Mercadonna, Carrefour Benidorm, and Masymas usually open their doors at nine in the morning until nine in the evening. These shops are also good places to keep a look out for discount vouchers to Benidorm’s theme parks. SUPERMARKETS IN BENIDORMIf you are coming on holiday to Benidorm and you are renting a self-catering apartment then you no doubt will want to know where the nearest supermarkets and shops are. It is best to get on the bus to the shopping centre of La Marina in Finistrat where you will find the huge Carrefour supermarket which has many British and English foods if you can't do without your familiar brands. Benidorm now also has an Iceland store (opposite La Marina mall) selling exactly the same food products you would get back in the Iceland store in the United Kingdom, for just a small amount more in Euros.
