HOW TO GET TO ALBIR FROM ALICANTE AIRPORT

Albir is a small beach resort sandwiched inbetween Altea and Benidorm on the northern Costa Blanca in Spain.

Albir is very close to Alfaz del Pi which is just slightly inland on the other side of the N-322 which divides the two areas.

If you have booked your own accommodation in an apartment or villa then you will have to book flights separately as well as figure out how you are going to get from either Valencia or Alicante to Albir and back again.

Alicante airport is the nearest Albir airport which is 63 km south of Albir with an approximate transfer time of 47 minutes. Having arrived at Alicante airport how do you get to Albir and how do you find the cheapest way of getting to your Albir accommodation from Alicante Airport?

Alternative transfer options are to fly into Valencia airport which is 155 km to the north with the transfer time of 90 minutes. Also there is Murcia airport which is 140 km to the south but with an equal transfer time of approximately 90 minutes.

Well there are three main ways of airport transfers from Alicante to Albir:

Taxi to Albir. A taxi fare from Alicante to Albir will cost in the region of €62 if you are arriving during the day or €74 in the evening or during fiestas. You will have to pay the same again on the day of departure to get back from Albir to Alicante. There are unlimited airport taxis at all times of the day (and night) directly outside the doors of the arrivals terminal at Alicante airport. You won't have to wait around as you would with a bus and it will take you directly outside your hotel, villa or apartment in Albir.

Tip - Agree a fixed fare before you leave the airport so you know what you will pay. Some drivers may add airport supplements and baggage supplements so getting an agreed fare first before you get in the taxi is best.

Tip - Most taxis from Alicante to Albir only can carry four people.

Private Shuttle to Albir. A shuttle transfer it's often cheaper alternative option be getting a taxi from the airport. There are different types of shuttle buses which are shared shuttle buses or private shuttle buses. The size of vehicle varies from small mini-buses to coach transfers to Albir.

To give you an example, from Alicante airport to Albir you can pay £8 pounds per person for a shared shuttle bus in which you obviously travel with other passengers who may be dropped off first.

The more expensive option is to pay £33 per person for a private shuttle bus from Alicante airport to Albir in which you are the only passengers so you are immediately dropped off directly at your chosen accommodation.

A private shuttlebus from Murcia airport to Albir will cost £78 per person.

A private shuttlebus from Valencia airport to Albir would cost £99 per person.

Albir Car hire. Hiring a car from Alicante airport to get you to Albir is a great idea if you also want to explore the fantastic Costa Blanca area of Spain. Car hire from Alicante airport is very cheap so it could be a good option even if you don't intend to use the car much. You can use our map for driving directions to Albir.

Albir is very much a compact beach resort with usually plenty of Albir bars, restaurants and beaches within walking distance, so unless you want to go on a number of excursions and days out you probably don't need to consider taking out car hire.
